Ingredients

  • 1 ball of pizza dough (250g)
  • 3 tbsp ketchup
  • 1 tbsp yellow mustard
  • 150g ground beef, cooked and crumbled
  • 120g sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 8-10 dill pickle slices
  • 1/2 cup shredded iceberg lettuce
  • 1/2 cup diced fresh tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp burger sauce (or thousand island dressing)
  • Extra virgin olive oil
  • Sea salt and black pepper to taste
  • Semolina flour for dusting

Instructions

  1. 1Preheat your outdoor pizza oven to 800-900°F (425-480°C) for at least 30 minutes
  2. 2Cook the ground beef in a skillet over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Season with salt and pepper, then drain excess fat
  3. 3In a small bowl, mix together the ketchup and mustard to create the sauce
  4. 4Dust your work surface with semolina flour
  5. 5Stretch the dough into a 12-inch circle, working from the center outward
  6. 6Spread the ketchup-mustard sauce evenly over the dough, leaving a 1-inch border for the crust
  7. 7Sprinkle the cooked ground beef evenly across the sauce
  8. 8Add the shredded cheddar cheese on top of the beef
  9. 9Arrange the pickle slices across the pizza
  10. 10Using a pizza peel, transfer the pizza to the hot oven floor
  11. 11Cook for 60-90 seconds, rotating every 20 seconds or so for even cooking
  12. 12Remove when crust is charred and cheese is bubbly with golden spots
  13. 13Immediately top with shredded lettuce and diced tomatoes
  14. 14Drizzle with burger sauce or thousand island dressing
  15. 15Slice and serve immediately while hot

Chef's Tips

Cook the ground beef ahead of time and let it cool slightly before adding to the pizza
Use sharp cheddar for the best flavor that stands up to the other ingredients
Don't add the lettuce, tomatoes, or sauce until after baking to keep them fresh and crisp
If you don't have burger sauce, thousand island dressing or a mix of mayo and ketchup works great
Ensure your outdoor oven is properly preheated for authentic Neapolitan-style cooking
Use a pizza peel with semolina flour to easily transfer the pizza to the oven
Rotate the pizza every 20 seconds or so for even charring
The high heat of the outdoor oven will quickly melt the cheese and crisp the crust
